Qantas Freight Asphalt Rehabilitation
Milling, full-depth pavement repairs and asphalt paving near the main entry and exit gate of the Qantas Freight facility, run as night works.
Scope of works
This project involved milling, full-depth pavement repairs, and asphalt paving for Stage 1 and Stage 2 areas near the main entry and exit gate at the Qantas Freight facility. The works were designed to restore the pavement’s structural integrity and provide a high-quality wearing surface capable of withstanding heavy operational traffic.
Works performed
Milling and waste removal
- Completed 73 t of mill and fill works using a 2 m mill.
- Milled the designated areas to a depth of 50 mm for wearing surface replacement.
- In areas requiring full-depth pavement repair, milled to 100 mm, removing the deteriorated base material.
Base and wearing course installation
- Patched full-depth repair zones with 100 mm of AC14HD hot-mix asphalt.
- Supplied, laid and compacted 50 mm AC14HD hot-mix asphalt across all milled areas to create a uniform, durable wearing surface.
Outcome
The rehabilitated pavement areas now offer improved durability, structural stability and a smooth finish, enhancing both safety and operational efficiency at the Qantas facility. All works were completed to a high standard, on schedule, and with minimal disruption to daily operations.
